Wilton Adopt a Tree Information

Wilton Conservation Commission has chosen some apple trees in the old orchard at our Carnival Hill for adopting candidates. You may prune your tree, and collect the crop. These apples may be used for jams, preserves, pie fillings, cider and sauce... You are welcomed to leave your crop for the birds etc... Nature’s critters are not concerned about appearance.

Carnival Hill is the former Whiting Family’s Hillsborough Dairy. This orchard has not been in production for more than five years. The trees will need extensive pruning for removal of damaged wood. They are relatively tall trees. Small step ladders may be helpful as well as hand pruning equipment. Bring your own equipment. No spraying of trees will be permitted.

If you are interested in being assigned a tree or attending a hand-on experience on how to prune an apple tree, please contact Spencer Brookes, [email protected].
