Please do not flush wipes, even so-called "flushable" ones.
Wipes, including disinfectant ones, paper towels, and anything other than toilet paper clog your sewer or septic pipes, the municipal sewer pipes, pumping stations, and waste-water treatment plants. If you need to use a substitute for toilet paper, put it in a bag and
throw it out.
The Wilton Sewer Commission oversees Wilton’s public sewer system and has created an ordinance (see link at right) which sets forth uniform requirements for contributors into the wastewater collection and treatment system for the Town of Wilton, N.H., and enables Wilton to comply with all applicable State and Federal laws.
The Commission also oversees and sets sewer use fees to fund the work of the department, including Wilton’s participation in the Milford-Wilton Wastewater agreement, in which wastewater services are provided to Wilton by the Milford system. Sewer use bills are issued 4 times per year on a quarterly basis. The current USER FEE is $120 per unit per quarter. Sewer bills that are not paid on a timely basis are subject to a late fee of $5 and 8% interest; a lien may also be placed on your property.
If you have questions about your quarterly sewer bill, please ask the Sewer Commissioners. Sewer Commissioners normally meet on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 PM in the Town Hall Court Room.
The three Commissioners are elected annually on a rotating basis to serve a 3-year term.
