    FULL TIME POLICE OFFICER
    2 positions

    The Wilton Police Department is hiring 2 Full Time Police Officers.
    Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: patrol, responding to emergency calls, investigating crimes and motor vehicle accidents, enforcing motor vehicle and criminal laws, protecting people and property,

    Pay:
       ・ Uncertified:               Starting pay: $25.00 an hour
       ・ Certified Officer:   Pay will be commensurate with experience & credentials
     
    Interested applicants must be:
        ・ At least 21 years of age.
        ・ United States Citizens with a valid driver’s license.
        ・ Can NOT have a Felony or Domestic Violence conviction.
        ・ Can NOT have a conviction for driving while intoxicated within the last 10 years.

    Testing Process will include the following:
        ・ Written Exam and Physical Agility Test (see NH Police Standards and Training Council website for physical fitness requirements)
        ・ Oral Board Interviews
        ・ Background Investigation
        ・ Polygraph Examination
        ・ Psychological Evaluation
        ・ Medical Examination

    FIRE CHIEF

    The Town of Wilton, New Hampshire is seeking a motivated individual to fill the position of full-time Fire Chief. This professional position is responsible for leading a small Volunteer force, protecting approximately 4000 residents and 25.6 square miles of territory in Southern New Hampshire. The Community is located along several busy State highways and hosts a large private school with an expansive campus and dormitories in addition to the Town’s cooperative school district.

     

    The new Fire Chief will be responsible for continuing the forward progress realized by the Department through the current Fire Chief’s efforts related to training, equipment and communication upgrades including fleet consolidation and modernization, grant acquisition, computer and technology upgrades. Additionally, this candidate must have strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills to meet the challenges faced by today’s volunteer fire service while still meeting the needs of the Community. Finally, the candidate should demonstrate the ability to look into the future to develop new goals and opportunities for talent acquisition and retention and continue to foster an excellent working relationship with our Emergency Services and various other Departments in the Town Government model.

      HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT WORKER

      Job Summary:
      Works mainly for the Highway Department, and all Town Departments which fall under their scope, in a responsible, and courteous manner with the public and all Town employees.

      Supervision Received:
      Works under the supervision of the Highway Superintendent.

      Essential Duties:
          • Must be able to perform various standard tasks using a wide variety of manual and powered equipment.    
          • Must be able to identify and resolve Public Works issues and concerns in a timely manner.
          • Must be able to perform duties in accordance with all federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations and within mandated and appropriate safety standards
          • Must be able to perform all aspects of roadway construction using various equipment and techniques.
          • Worksites, vehicles and garages must be kept in a clean orderly manner and safely secured at the completion of the work shift.
          • Must keep the Highway Superintendent accurately informed concerning work progress, including present and potential work problems.
          • Must attend meetings, workshops and training sessions and review publications to become and remain current on principles and practices and new developments in assigned work areas.
          • All employees shall be required to respond to after hour calls for emergencies and snow removal.
          • Must be able to perform special tasks as assigned by the Highway Superintendent.
          • Must be able to perform routine maintenance on all Town owned buildings and properties.
          • Must report all accidents, to self and/or property, and safety concerns to the Highway Superintendent.
          • All employees must represent Wilton in a professional manner.
          • Must have and maintain a NH driver’s license and current medical card, and have a clean driving record.  A CDL is preferred but not required.
          • Must be in physical condition to perform his/her duties.
          • All employees must be able to take and pass random drug testing.
          • Employee shall perform related, similar, or other logical duties as assigned and may be required to perform duties beyond those contained in this job description.
