Update from Paul Branscombe on the Impact of COVID-19 on Our Community.
The effects of COVID-19 on our community
Adapting to the Coronavirus crisis has been a challenge for our Town Office employees while attempting to offer the same level of service that Wilton residents have come to expect.
The Federal Government has made significant sums of money available to municipalities but there is no time table for when Wilton will see the reimbursement for COVID-19 expenditures.
Wilton has lost much of its municipal aid from the State so we have had to trim budgets and lay-off employees in order to protect the budget approved at Town Meeting.
There are signs that we are all (residents and Town staff) being stressed by the impact of the Coronavirus.
We shall be re-opening the Town Office by appointment only on Monday July 6th and the protocols we are putting in place will be announced shortly.
Even though the Governor has opened up New Hampshire we are being very cautious in the Town Offices to protect both our employees and our residents.
