Caught in the act, bracts of grasses reach longingly for each other. Did
you know? All grasses are characterized by jointed stems. That’s why
the stuff
growing in your front yard is a cousin of giant bamboo and the corn in the fields.
Most beech leaves cling to their stems during the winter, but
some venture out onto thin ice,
to gleam golden amid the black and white of the cold season.
(These photos, like the seasons, will change as the year turns.
Make sure you see them all.)
