Energy Committee

The Wilton Energy Committee (WEC) is a committee of volunteers that advises the Wilton Board of Selectmen on energy policy.

WHAT'S NEW? TWO LED Lighting Projects!
1. WEC is hard at work along with Wapack Sustainability crafting a plan to replace our streetlights with LED lighting. The new lighting is superior to the old, pays for itself in about 2.5 years, is a GREEN OPTION, and will save taxpayers $$$ over the lifetime of the project (20-30 years.)

We meet Monday mornings at 9am in Town Hall to share progress and determine next steps. This is NOT an official meeting, but in the spirit of transparency you are welcome to join us.

2. The WLC School Board's Facilities Committee will hear a WEC proposal to replace lighting with a modern, cost-effective, GREEN OPTION system that will offer tremendous taxpayer savings over the 20-30 year lifetime of the project.

The Facilities Committee meeting is at 5:30pm, Tuesday, Dec 11th at the WLC School.

Mission Statement

Our main purpose has been to advise the Town of Wilton about ways to reduce the town’s energy expenditures. Our mandate includes analyzing current energy use, identifying opportunities for usage reductions, proposing cost effective upgrades to town facilities, and keeping the town apprised of improvements planned, underway, or completed. Beyond that, we propose to help raise the town’s awareness of ways to reduce our collective energy footprint, in residential and commercial as well as municipal contexts.
