On Monday October 5th  Kermit Williams and the Wilton Select Board presented Jessie Salisbury with a Governor’s Citation recognizing her many years of service reporting for the town of Wilton, Lyndeborough and Milford.

Jessie has a deep knowledge of state and local history, and she is highly respected for her efforts to ensure that local proceedings are covered with professionalism and fairness. On behalf of the citizens of New Hampshire, I commend Jessie Salisbury for her contributions and hard work as a reporter.”

Jessie and KermitJessie has been an invaluable reporter for the Town Of Wilton, ensuring that critical local news reaches our residents via local papers such as the Milford Cabinet, Nashua Telegraph and Monadnock Ledger Transcript.

Jessie moved to Lyndeborough in 1947, graduated from Wilton High School in 1952 and returned to college 30+ years later to attend Keene State College in 1988 with a BA in journalism/public affairs. She started at The Telegraph in 1979, and at the Cabinet a little before that. She was with the Ledger (when it was just The Monadnock Ledger) from 1983-1994. She then went back to the Telegraph in 1994 and when their parent company purchased the Cabinet, she was switched there. At the time she also covered Greenville, New Ipswich and Mason.

Jessie has always been a part-time free-lance contractor except for five years at The Ledger.

She is the author of 11 romance novels with Soul Mate Publishing; co-author of Images of America - Wilton, Temple Lyndeborough, and Lyndeborough Central School 1949-2015 (published by the School Board).  Jessie is currently one of three people updating Lyndeborough's town history - last updated in 1955. Other awards include The Fred Bean Award for agricultural writing in 1997, the Souhegan Valley Chamber History Recognition Award in 2010, and several N.H. Press Association awards while at the Ledger.

Please thank and congratulate Jessie for her outstanding work for over 40+ years!
